Hydrotherapy Taster Day

We are delighted to offer taster days, the day is aimed to provide hands-on experience in both the pool and water treadmill as well as gaining an understanding the water management/treatments that are carried out daily to ensure that the water is both safe and hygienic for clients and staff. Over the course of the day we will also be looking at some case studies and conditions that are often referred over for hydrotherapy to give people a better understanding of what/why and how an animal hydrotherapist works.

And, we refund the taster day fees in full should you decide to enrol on the Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy!

Placement Locations and Dates

Newcastle (Has a treadmill but no pool), Chepstow, Aberdeen and Bath

Placement Days are booked on-demand in discussion with both student and the centre to find a mutually beneficial date.

This little pygmy goat fell off a play frame when she was 10 weeks old. She suffered a soft tissue injury to her forelimb which prevented her from using the limb. She started hydrotherapy to initially reduce the inflammation and increase the range of movement. As she started to weight bear more we could then increase the muscle mass as there was significant atrophy through disuse. Treatment led to a full recovery!

Animal Courses Direct works in partnership with Woozelbears to provide intensive practical training as part of the Ofqual regulated qualifications. Woozelbears has top of the range equipment including underwater treadmills, large bespoke pools, hydrotherapy spa and a team of highly qualified personnel.

Small Animal Hydrotherapy treatments are used for a variety of animals – not just dogs! This video shows Percy the cat receiving treatment for an injury – after 4 sessions he had made a full recovery.

Hydrotherapy Courses

Animal Hydrotherapists use hydrotherapy techniques to help animals with rehabilitation needs to recover from injury or as part of pain management or even as a type of exercise for animals with mobility issues. Having a regulated qualification is essential to work as a registered animal hydrotherapist. The hydrotherapy courses offered by Animal Courses Direct are Ofqual regulated qualifications designed for learners preparing for a career working in animal hydrotherapy as a Small Animal Hydrotherapist or in a Veterinary career utilising hydrotherapy as a treatment.

We offer hydrotherapy courses as blended learning, with theory studied online and intensive practical training included towards the end of your theory studies. This is a great way to put your theory knowledge into practice and ideal for anyone working full time or needing to fit their studies around their other commitments. After the Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy, students can progress onto the Level 4 Diploma in Small Animal Hydrotherapy and then to Levels 5 and 6 Veterinary Physiotherapy (coming soon). Students can seek employment as an Animal Hydrotherapist (register with our Job Board for the latest vacancies, or contact Animal Hydrotherapy centres near where you live with your CV). Or alternatively, set up your own Animal Hydrotherapy business!
