This Level 3 Award in Reptile Studies is an Ofqual regulated qualification that provides learners with knowledge of reptile care, welfare and behaviour. This 2 unit course also explores the vital conservation efforts aiming to protect reptiles.
This Reptile studies qualification contains the most up to date research into the keeping of reptiles. It is an excellent training course for animal charity staff, vet staff, animal welfare officers, pet shop workers and all those interested in the care and welfare of reptiles including reptile owners.
Crocodiles of the World Placement
Crocodiles of the World is the UK's only dedicated crocodile zoo, with 19 species of crocodiles and alligators along with Komodo dragons, Galapagos giant tortoises, meerkats, fishing cats, tamarins, and plenty of lizards and snakes.Learners get to work for 3 days directly with the animal team, preparing food, feeding and cleaning/maintaining enclosures and enclosure areas. Whilst learners will not be working directly with any of the crocodilians, this is a great way to experience how a zoo operates, and the fundamentals of animal husbandry for exotic animals.
Please note that this placement is optional and not assessed.
