This Level 4 Certificate in Professional Pet Sitting, Dog Walking, Dog Day Care and Home Boarding has been designed to develop knowledge and skills within pet sitting, dog walking, dog day care and home boarding.

This Ofqual regulated qualification is designed for learners of the age of 16 and over, who are currently in a role related to pet sitting, dog walking, dog day care or home boarding or planning to be in the future. This qualification will allow learners to formalise their learning and gain a regulated qualification, which is especially important if they are looking after pets in any capacity.

Learners may progress on to further studies within animal care or even employment in roles such as pet sitting, dog walking or dog day care.

Learners could also look to progress within various other regulated qualifications within the animal care sector to expand on their knowledge and experience in animal care further.

Why Choose This Qualification?

This qualification is an ideal choice for those who may already work as a dog walker, pet sitter or provide daycare/boarding for dogs and would like to obtain the relevant qualifications and training to support their career progress.

This regulated qualification complies with the Defra Animal Activity Licensing requirements for working as a pet sitter or boarder. The course content includes learning on understanding pets in a business context, animal characteristics and behaviour, and the day-to-day considerations when operating a pet sitting, dog walking or daycare/boarding business.

There are no practical units within this qualification and thus, learners will not be assessed on practical dog walking or pet sitting skills as part of this qualification. This means that learners can complete the qualification whether or not they have pets or are currently working in the sector.
