Unit 1
Care of Canines in Settings
Learners will identify the needs of canines when in kennels, home boarding facilities and day care. This will include identifying welfare needs, health needs and emotional needs. Learners will know the risks posed to people working with animals and will be introduced to these risks, gaining the knowledge on how to minimise them.
Unit 2
Canine Behaviour
Learners will explore body language and behaviour signals seen in canines. This includes the causes and signs of different undesirable behaviours and techniques used to modify behaviours. Aggression will also be examined, including how to recognise the signs and situations leading up to aggressive behaviour.
Progression
Learners may progress on to employment within canine settings, or look to progress onto various other regulated qualifications within the animal care sector to expand on their knowledge and experience in animal care further.
The two units in this award qualification also feature in the Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care Behaviour and Welfare and these do not need to be repeated if progressing onto the Level 3 Diploma.
On completion of their studies, learners can expect their certification within 6 months following the (EQA) External Quality Assurance of assessment. All course fees, inclusive of all payment plans including our Premium Credit Limited option, must be settled before certification can be ordered.
