Elephant Sanctuary:
Interns are chosen for their field of study, experience and future goals. Internships are awarded to students studying veterinary science, zoology, wildlife management, and related fields, as well as to individuals drawn to the Sanctuary for spiritual reasons.
Emergency Animal Rescue Service (EARS):
Volunteers are the backbone of our efforts to provide lifesaving care and shelter for animal victims of natural and human-caused disasters. Volunteers come from across the country and all walks of life, but they have one thing in common: a commitment to helping animals in need.
NEADS World Class Service Dogs:
has opportunities for volunteers in many different areas. Volunteers are needed to walk and feed dogs, raise puppies and give presentations to organisations, and staff trade show booths
Guide Dogs of America:
There are many types of volunteering, including Puppy Raising. If you are interested in volunteering for Guide Dogs of America, be sure that you are located close to the G.D.A. facilities here in Sylmar, CA for your own convenience.
Hawkwatch International:
Are you interested in helping us to monitor and protect hawks, eagles, other birds of prey and their environment through our research, education and conservation efforts? Here are the latest opportunities!
Kansas Specialty Dog Service:
Becoming a Puppy Raiser is one way to volunteer. Other animal volunteer opportunities include assistance from painters, carpenters, plumbers, individuals capable of doing odd jobs, yard work, mailings, tour guides, playing with puppies at the Canine Housing Unit and many more.
L.C.A. Last Chance for Animals:
Recognizes that animals have the ability to experience pain, and as such they deserve certain basic rights protecting them from pain caused by humans. LCA believes that non-human animals should not be subjected to suffering and exploitation by humans because alternatives exist for nearly every traditional “usage” of animals. Last Chance for Animals is always looking for other dedicated animal volunteers to get involved, speak up and make a difference for animals.
Search Dog Foundation:
The mission of the Search Dog Foundation is to produce the most highly trained canine disaster search teams in the nation. You don’t need to live in Ojai to become an SDF Agency Angel Volunteer! Some of our Angels live down the street–some on the other side of the country.
More Information about Volunteering
America is a huge country and there are a wealth of volunteering opportunities with wildlife or dogs and cats in animal shelters, veterinary clinics and wildlife organisations. Urban areas like New York have many domestic animal rescue organisations that need help and anyone wanting a career working in an animal rescue centre will gain a lot of skills and experience volunteering for an animal charity. More rural areas like the Sierras and Yellowstone Park will have more wildlife volunteering opportunities.
