Zookeeping Diploma Level 3


The Ofqual regulated Level 3 Diploma in Zookeeping has been developed in consultation with zoos to meet employment criteria. This comprehensive qualification studies wildlife conservation, zoo design, zoo animal management, disease prevention, training, enrichment and more. The qualification is suitable for pursuing a career working with wildlife in zoos, safari parks, wildlife collections and other wildlife organisations. Includes 1 week Practical training at Blackpool Zoo, home to over 1,350 animals from all over the world including lions, tigers, elephants, gorillas, zebras, flamingos, penguins, ostriches, owls, tortoises and more.

The Level 3 Diploma in Zoology explores what life is and how it has been able to diversify into such numbers. Elephant Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Elephant Care, Behaviour and Welfare studies elephant behaviour, care and welfare in both natural habitats and ex-situ environments in order to improve their care and welfare. The course also explores the context and role of conservation initiatives within wild and captive environments. The elephant is the largest mammalian herbivore found on Earth. Unfortunately, elephant habitats are disappearing fast and many elephants are killed by poaching. The couse is suitable for careers working with elephants and for those wanting to gain a deeper understanding about the care, behaviour and welfare of elephants.


Wildlife Rehabilitation Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Wildlife First Aid and Rehabilitation studies the rescue, rehabilitation and release of wildlife. Learn about first aid & rescue, handling & transportation, health & hygiene, wildlife recovery, rehabilitation, the safe release of wildlife and the role of wildlife rescue organisations. The course is suitable for jobs and volunteering roles involving the rescue, rehabilitation and release of injured wildlife. The course includes optional practical training at a busy, award winning Wildlife Rescue Hospital that assists sick, injured and orphaned wildlife across East Sussex. The Level 3 Diploma in Animal Emergency & Disaster Response explores response options for assisting animals in crisis situations during man-made and natural disasters. The course is suitable for disaster management teams, emergency medical services personnel, fire fighters, animal welfare officers, veterinary staff, animal shelter staff and volunteers wanting to assist with the welfare of animals following a disaster.

Wildlife Conservation Practical Course Java, Indonesia

 

This 2 week Wildlife Conservation course takes place at the Wildlife and Orangutan volunteer project in Java, Indonesia. Rehabilitate orphaned and injured animals back to health and assist with their release to the wild – this is one of the most satisfying experiences a volunteer can have.


Rainforest Conservation Practical Placement Merapoh Malaysia

 

This 2 week Rainforest Conservation course involves hands-on involvement in the protection of forest wildlife and the support of the development of the Batek tribe in Merapoh, Malaysia. Experience and learn first hand about rainforests and at the same time get involved with assisting to preserve its animals, plants and people.


 

 

Marine Science Research Practical Course, Menorca

 

This 1 week practical course runs from May to October and takes place on a beautiful research ship in the serene bays of Menorca.  Immerse yourself  in the science on board and integrate as part of the crew. Resulting surveys and discoveries contribute directly to the management and creation of Marine Protected Areas around the globe. These expeditions are unique and authentic and have the  specific objective of studying and conserving the ocean's natural and cultural treasures.


Marine Conservation Practical Course, Egypt

 

This 2 week practical course takes place on the undeveloped coast of the Red Sea, Egypt providing a great opportunity to get involved in many aspects of Marine Conservation. There are 3 nearby separate protected mangrove locations and extensive seagrass meadows all with an incredible depth of marine life and all unaffected by the global tourism boom. Study and monitor fringing reefs, sea grass meadows, mangroves, fossil reefs and more. This practical course includes a PADI Open Water Diving Course.


Marine Research Station Practical Course, Malaysia

 

This 4 week practical course takes place on a marine research station where the local village boatmen are involved in conducting daily surveys to  empower them to protect their islands. This placement includes a PADI Open Water Diving Course.

 


Marine Animal Rescue Diploma with Practical - Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Marine Animal Rescue studies oceans as a habitat, when & how to assist marine animals affected by man made and natural disasters, first aid kit essentials, identification & record keeping, understanding animal behaviour in rescue situations, the handing, transportation, recovery, rehabilitation and safe release of marine animals. The course includes an optional practical marine mammal medic 1 day training session, covering seal rescue, dolphin rescue and whale rescue. The course is suitable for careers with marine animals and for those already involved in the rescue, rehabilitation, and care of marine animals.


Herpetology Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Herpetology is suitable for careers working with reptiles and for reptile owners. Study reptile and amphibian origins, classification, anatomy and physiology. The course also includes information about endangered species and threats to their survival, diet & nutritional requirements, reproduction and general behaviour of frogs, toads, newts, salamanders, snakes, geckos, turtles, lizards, iguanas, tortoises, terrapins & crocodilia. Reptile Care, Welfare and Ethics Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Reptile Care, Welfare and Ethics studies the most up to date research about the keeping of reptiles. The course is suitable for careers working with reptiles and for reptile owners. Learn about various reptile care and welfare issues including the biological requirements of reptiles, general health & welfare needs and how to recognise and respond to common illnesses and disease. Wildlife Courses Lead to Great Jobs:
There are many different jobs working with wildlife including; the protection and rescue of animals from natural and man-made disasters, rehabilitation of injured and sick animals, monitoring wildlife habits, conducting ecological and wildlife surveys, wildlife education, wildlife management, working in zoos and safari parks, wildlife conservation and more.
