Whilst pet shops may be the best places to buy equipment and pet food, toys etc they are not good environments to keep, hold or sell animals especially where they can be bought on impulse by anyone. However, many pet shops do not sell animals and they provide interesting working environments. This can be a great opportunity to educate people about what animals really need and what needs to be considered before obtaining a pet. As well as animal care, customer care also forms a large part of the work and having comprehensive knowledge about pet care products is important. Equally, candidates must have good knowledge about specific care requirements for a variety of animals as in many cases, customers rely on pet shops for pet care advice. Other duties include; monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, dealing with deliveries and using the computer and till.
