Marine Conservation Practical Course

This 2 week course is based on the undeveloped coast of the Red Sea in Egypt where there are various coral reef structures, 3 separate protected mangrove locations and extensive sea grass meadows - all with an incredible depth of marine life and all unaffected by the global tourism boom.

Diving is extremely varied with numerous pristine coral gardens, challenging wall dives, off shore ergs, sea grass meadows, extensive cavern systems and a resident pod of dolphins.

This practical course provides an ideal opportunity to get involved in many aspects of marine science and marine conservation.
There are opportunities to study and monitor fringing reefs, sea grass meadows, mangroves, fossil reefs and much more.

Marine Conservation Diplomas and Practical

As well as diving, reef cleaning and marine research, this marine conservation practical course involves assisting with education and action with the local community to reduce environmental impacts created by the modernisation of society. Students can get involved with face to face interviews with the local community fisherman whose families have been fishing the Red Sea for as long as they can remember; meetings with the authorities that control and monitor the fishing regulations; practical experience in conducting various clean ups and visits to various sites of different types of pollution such as oil, chemical, construction etc.

We include an accredited Level 3 Diploma in Marine Animal Rescue/Conservation/Zoology/Biology/ Ichthyology as part of this practical course; this is a great opportunity to put the theory in to practice by learning widely used data collection techniques & fish and coral identification and optional participation in citizens science coral monitoring project. This  Marine Conservation Course based in Egypt, is a great way to gain hands-on conservation and research experience to compliment your theory studies.

Students stay at a small friendly resort popular with scuba divers, snorkellers and those who want a quiet, peaceful, relaxed atmosphere but with the convenience of having the small traditional town of El Quseir on its doorstep. Accommodation is in shared (up to 4 people), single gender Eco Huts - constructed with natural materials blended with a modern contemporary interior. The rooms are supplied with clean bed linen and towels.
