Unit 3 covers the types and characteristics of big cats including lions, tigers, leopards, pumas, lynx and jaguars.
Unit # 4
Big Cats in Captivity
In this unit, students will learn about the ethical issues surrounding captive animals. Learn how to provide adequate nutrition, environmental enrichment, whilst understanding psychological and behavioural needs for big cats kept in captivity. Finally, students will cover the role played by animal charities that rehabilitate and rescue big cats.
Unit # 5
Caring for Big Cats in Captivity
Learn about the welfare and care of big cats in captivity as part of their rehabilitation. Unit 5 has information on first aid, common ailments and diseases and identifying the signs of ill health. Learn about identification, transportation and record keeping – all essential towards the care of captive big cats.
Unit # 6
Conservation and Ecological Principles
Finally, students will explore how the conflict between wildlife and humans is relevant to big cats. Discover how communities are becoming engaged to assist and conserve big cats.

Students unlock eligibility to apply for ZSL Fellowship when they study an animal course on zoology, conservation or wildlife with Animal Courses Direct.
