Birds of Prey Course

This Level 3 accredited course studies birds of prey (raptors) in wild and captive situations; learn about different species, behaviour, and welfare concerns.

We are aware of birds of prey through natural history programmes or those of us lucky enough to observe species such as peregrine falcons soaring above the trees in the wild. This course is relevant for anyone working or volunteering with wild birds of prey, and for those who may have contact with raptors in captivity.

The course offers a rounded understanding of the improved welfare of birds of prey in captivity, remaining sympathetic to the Five Welfare Freedoms of raptor birds.

Birds of Prey

This comprehensive birds of prey course is for those interested in working or volunteering with birds of prey. It is also an ideal Veterinary Nurse CPD course and is also relevant for anyone interested in learning more about birds of prey.

The course explores the different types of birds of prey and their behaviours, form and function, husbandry, first aid, handling techniques as well as monitoring and rehabilitation. The course also includes information about current legislation and threats facing Birds of Prey.

The course provides knowledge of the types of raptors surrounding us in the wild and how they behave according to their habitat, prey, and hunting strategies. Learn about the legalities surrounding birds of prey in the wild and in captivity and how to promote raptor welfare in order to prevent loss of species in their natural habitats of the wild.
