Animal Licensing Inspector Award Level 3

 

The Ofqual regulated Animal Licensing Inspector Award Level 3 meets the Defra Animal Activity Licensing requirements for Local Authority Animal Licensing Inspectors responsible for inspecting and licensing Animal Activity businesses. This qualification is suitable for Inspectors who already have animal related experience and are required to gain an Ofqual regulated qualification to meet Defra requirements. This is a shortened version of the Animal Welfare Officer Diploma with focus on the subjects of inspecting sites and animal welfare legislation.


Animal Welfare Officer Diploma Level 3

 

The Ofqual regulated Level 3 Animal Welfare Officer Diploma meets the Defra Animal Activity Licensing requirements for Local Authority Animal Licensing Inspectors who require comprehensive training. The qualification is also suitable for careers as an Animal Welfare Officer, RSPCA Inspector or Animal Welfare Inspector - involving a practical approach to the prevention of animal cruelty and licensing of animal related premises. This Ofqual regulated qualification meets the new Animal Activity Licensing (AAL) Regulations Higher Standard requirements.


Animal Assisted Intervention Diploma Level 3

 

The Ofqual regulated qualification for working in the field of Animal Assisted Intervention. Animal Assisted Intervention services can help children, adolescents, adults and older people with mental health needs, physical or learning disabilities, to achieve increased health, wellbeing and quality of life. This Ofqual regulated qualification meets the Animal Activities Licensing (AAL) Higher Standard requirements.

Environmental Enrichment for Animals 


The Level 3 Environmental Enrichment Certificate is of benefit to anyone working or volunteering with animals in captivity. It is also relevant for pet owners wanting to ensure adequate environmental enrichment for the animals in their care. 



Animal Care Studies Diploma Level 2

 

The Level 2 Diploma in Animal Care and Welfare studies the care and welfare of a variety of companion animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, reptiles and small animals. The course is suitable for many careers with animals including the animal charity and veterinary care sector. The course includes an optional practical placement working hands-on with companion animals. 


Animal Care Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Animal Care and Welfare Management studies the care and welfare management of companion animals. The course explores animal care and welfare, nutrition, animal accommodation and the most effective ways of providing environmental enrichment to ensure proper expression of behaviour. The course is suitable for animal care and welfare management careers providing the highest standards of care for a variety of animals kept as pets. An optional practical placement working hands-on with companion animals is included.


Farm Animal Studies Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Farm Animal Certificate is suitable for working with farm animals such as in a city farm environment or small-holding. The course studies farm animal first aid, the effective handling & restraint of farm animals, basic nutrition, how to carry out routine health checks and deal with common health disorders, diseases & parasites. The course also includes farm animal psychology, body language and environmental enrichment.


Animal Hoarding Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Animal Hoarding explores methods of identifying and responding to animal hoarding. Animal hoarding is the keeping of higher than usual numbers of animals as companion animals without having the ability to properly house or care for them, while at the same time denying this inability. Early intervention is the key to preventing the suffering caused by animal hoarding. The course is suitable for animal welfare officers and animal care professionals.


Pet Bereavement Support Certificate level 2

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Pet Bereavement Counselling explores how best to support someone who has lost a beloved animal through euthanasia, accident or natural death. Pet Bereavement Counsellors are employed by animal welfare charities and veterinary surgeries.


Companion Animal Behaviour Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Companion Animal Behaviour studies the behaviour and psychology of dogs, cats and rabbits. The course explores how companion animals think, learn and behave. The course is suitable for many careers working with companion animals and it is also relevant for pet owners who would like to gain a perspective on how their pet thinks and learns.


 

Pet Shop Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Pet Shop Management studies companion animal care & welfare, nutrition, grooming, health & hygiene, environmental enrichment, health checks, legislation and customer care. The course is suitable for pet shop managers, pet shop owners and customer care staff working in pet shops.


Canine First Aid Certificate

 

The 1 day Intensive Practical Canine First Aid course held in Malvern, Worcestershire, is of relevance to anyone working with dogs in an animal hydrotherapy, animal physiotherapy, veterinary, animal charity or private business capacity as well as for pet owners wishing to increase their knowledge and skills.

Small Animal Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Small Animal Care and Welfare studies the care, welfare & behaviour of rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, rats, mice, gerbils, jirds, degus, chinchillas, chipmunks & ferrets. The course is relevant for careers in animal charities, veterinary practice, pet shops and pet care businesses.


Rabbit Studies Diploma Level 3

 

The Level 3 Diploma in Rabbit Care, Behaviour & Welfare studies the care, welfare & behaviour of rabbits and includes information about rabbit psychology, anatomy, physiology, nutrition, environmental enrichment, transportation, health checks and suitable accommodation. The course is relevant for careers in animal charities, veterinary practice, pet shops and pet care businesses.


Animal Housing and Welfare Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Animal Housing and Welfare studies welfare, accommodation and environmental enrichment for small mammals, reptiles and birds. The course is relevant for pet owners and those working with small animals kept in confinement such as animal shelters, pet shops and city farms.


Rabbit Welfare Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Rabbit Care and Welfare studies rabbit care and welfare. The course provides an excellent foundation for those working with rabbits in a veterinary, city farm or animal charity enrivonment as well as for pet owners. 


Guinea Pig Care and Welfare Certificate Level 3

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Guinea Pig Care and Welfare studies guinea pig care and welfare including nutrition, health checks and enrichment. The course is suitable for those working with guinea pigs in a veterinary, city farm or animal charity environment as well as for pet owners.


Equine Courses


Principles of Equine First Aid

 

The Level 3 Certificate in Equine First Aid is relevant for horse owners and those working with horses. Learn how to provide first aid for injured horses and how to assemble an equine first aid kit. The course studies common equine illnesses, how to prevent injury or sickness, how to handle an injured or sick horse and stable requirements for injured horses. 


Equine Studies Diploma Level 3


The Level 3 Diploma in Horse Care, Behaviour and Welfare is suitable training for working in a stables and for a variety of careers with horses. The course explores the welfare, care and behaviour of horses and includes information about equine anatomy, psychology, nutrition, health, handling, transport and welfare.

Animal Shelter Management Diploma Level 3


The Level 3 Diploma in Animal Shelter Management is suitable for  animal charity management careers. The 12 unit course explores the needs and care requirements of a variety of companion animals including dogs, cats, small mammals, rabbits and reptiles. The course also studies first aid, management, health & hygiene, animal handling, environmental enrichment and there is an optional practical placement at an animal charity working hands-on with companion animals.


Animal Ethics and Welfare Diploma Level 4

 

The Level 4 Diploma in Animal Ethics and Welfare studies the welfare and ethics of animals kept as pets. The course is suitable for many animal welfare careers, as well as for those interested in the subject of animal ethics. 



Animal Care Courses


Our regulated qualifications and accredited courses are all designed as relevant training for working with a variety of companion animals.

The courses that we offer are set at Levels 1 - 4. Level 1 is Pre GCSE, Level 3 is the entry Level we suggest for most students (Level 3 is open entry and we don't require students to have any prior qualifications to enrol), Level 4 is A Level standard.  We offer many Animal Care courses dealing with different species and for people wanting to work in all sectors of animal care.  For many people wanting to work with animals, it can be difficult deciding what type of animals to work with and what type of work with animals to pursue.  We have developed several Animal Care and Welfare courses for working with companion animals in a variety of roles. These courses are of relevance to anyone who would like to work with all types of pets including dogs, cats, horses, small animals and reptiles in roles working in animal charities, private businesses, veterinary surgeries, self employed etc. These Animal Care Courses are designed for working with animals in a variety of roles. The course vary from 2 module certificates to 12 module Diplomas and include practical and distance learning training courses.
